Hey yall! I’m Julia Lynne and I’ll be your host for this journey through books!
I’m a critical care nurse by night, an avid reader and cat mom by day. I’ve got three adorable cats, two of which are the perfect reading buddies. My third cat is a tortie, and if you know anything about torties and their tortitude, then you know why she doesn’t exactly make the best reading buddy. I’ve had her since 2022 and I’m pretty sure she merely tolerates my existence most days.
I’ve been an avid reader since I was a child. I would read anything I could get my grubby little hands on, from the back of the cereal box to the ingredient list of the febreeze can. My stepmom is a retired teacher, so she would always try to encourage my reading by bringing me to the library or the local Barnes and Noble. One of her friends was an English teacher and would often go to conventions and conferences and would bring me back ARC’s. I didn’t know just how good I had it.
To this day, I still read just about anything I can. I have a varied taste in books, so expect me to review a gamut of different types of books. The only books I won’t be reviewing here are nonfiction/memoirs. I’ve seen people say they “didn’t like” a memoir or a nonfiction book, but I feel it’s not our place to judge what others have gone through and are strong enough to tell us about.
I also will not be using stars as ratings. I think they’re a super arbitrary system and what one person would rate as a 5 star, someone else would rate as a 3 star. With that being said, this is a safe space for all book lovers and non book lovers alike. Please recognize that every single person on this earth has different tastes, likes, dislikes, etc. What I might enjoy, someone else might not. AND THAT’S PERFECTLY ALRIGHT. The world would be a VERY boring place if we all liked and disliked the exact same things. The reviews are my opinions based on my experiences and likes and dislikes. If you disagree with me, that’s fine, but please be respectful.
